Admission in Diploma in Health Statistics (DHS) Course at All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health (AIIH&PH), Kolkata for the Session 2018-19

Notice for admission in Diploma in Health Statistics (DHS) course at AIIH&PH, Kolkata has been published by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences on 14.06.2018. The salient features of the notice are as follows:

I) Eligibility

Graduation in any discipline from any Recognized University having Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at Higher Secondary (10+2) level.

Age limit: Not more than 30 years as on 30.06.2018. Relaxation for 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates as per Govt. rules. For sponsored candidate there is no age bar.

II) Application for admission

a)    Candidates seeking admission for Diploma in Health Statistics (DHS) is required to submit his/her application online by visiting  www.wbuhsexams.in and filling in the application form for DHS given under the heading “Online Applications” in the left hand side Menu of the website (or directly click http://www.wbuhsexams.in/COURSE3/eight_course/frm_allCourse.aspx and select DHS).

b)    After submission of application online, candidate has to take the print version and physically submit the printed version of the form with acknowledgment number and required fees in pay order/demand draft [in favour of The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, payable at Kolkata]  to the WBUHS office.   The last date of submission of application form online 28.06.2018. The hard copy to the print version is to be submitted to the university by 29.06.2018 (16:00 hours).

III) Admission test

The admission test will be conducted by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences on 15.07.2018 in Kolkata. There will be 100 questions of MCQ type on Mathematics and Statistics upto the 10+2 standard based on OMR sheet. There is no negative marking. The total time for examination will be 80 minutes.

IV) Stipend

Each student admitted to this course would receive a monthly stipend of ₹ 7500/- per month.

Observation of National Dengue Day, 2018 at UHU&TC, Chetla

National Dengue Day, 2018 was observed at UHU&TC, Chetla. All the patients and attendants attending OPD were gathered at MCH OPD & School Health OPD Premises on 16th May, 2018 from 10.30 am – 12 noon. The IEC was given in the form of “Lecture” & “Poster”.

The following points were highlighted during awareness promotion session:

  • Introduction: Importance of observance of National Dengue Day.
  • Dengue fever and its symptoms.
  • Transmission of Dengue and characteristics of Aedes mosquitoes.
  • Breeding sites of Aedes mosquitoes.
  • Cleaning the water storing sites periodically inside and outside houses.
  • Mosquito bite protection at individual level.
  • Role of community in prevention and control of Dengue.
  • Interactive session with Stakeholders.

Recent activities at Urban Health Unit & Training Centre, Chetla

Awareness Programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Personal Hygiene

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: The concept of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) is to provide sanitation facility to every family, including toilet, solid and liquid waste disposal system, village cleanliness and safe and adequate drinking water. The UHU&TC, Chetla provides primary health care mostly to urban slum population. As part of community health service, the Urban Health & Nutrition Day (UHND) has been observed weekly in high risks pockets of slum areas. The Health Education is one of the essential component of UHND and as part of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), IEC was provided during home visit and UHND of Lock Gate area on 12-04-18 in different issues related to Health & Hygiene.

Observation of World Health Day 2018

World Health Day 2018 focuses on universal health coverage (UHC)- means all people get the health care they need, without suffering financial hardship. The UHU&TC, Chetla observed the World Health Day,2018 on 5.4.2018 at community of slum area and highlighted the theme-  Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Observation of World TB Day 2018

The World TB Day 2018 was observed at UHU&TC, Chetla jointly with District Health Authority on 23.3.2018. The theme was “Wanted: Leaders for a TB-free world” There was an interactive session with patients and relatives on TB/MDR-TB.
