Diploma in Health Statistics (DHS)
Development of skills with understanding of statistical methods and their applications in assessment research, administration and solution strategies pertaining to the problems of health and diseases in the community.
The candidates being awarded the Diploma in Health Statistics are expected to have acquired capabilities to undertake survey & investigation of health problems; utilization of official health records and vital statistics;
providing essential statistical methodology for assessment and research in medical & health field and to assist of government/NGO led health care system etc.
Basic Statistical Methods Descriptive Statistics Definitions of terms like population, sample, random sample, variable etc., sources of Statistics, Methods of Data collection, compilation, tabulation and diagrammatic
representation, Measures of central tendency, Measures of dispersion, moments, skewness and kurtosis, Correlation and Regression. Curve fitting for two variables by using Latest squares techniques. Time series analysis.
Probability theory and Distributions Basic concepts; Fundamental theorems of probability; Mathematical expectations; Binomial, poison and normal probability distribution and their applications; Practical Exercises Based
on Probability theory and Distributions Theory of Estimation and tests of significance Concepts of Sampling and estimation, confidence intervals; Concepts of Testing of hypothesis; Statistical tests based on Normal,
Chi-square, t and F â€“ distributions; Practical exercise based on theory of estimation, tests of significance, sample survey and design of experiments. Practical Exercise Based on Theory of Estimation and tests of
significance Sample Survey and Design of experiments Basic Principles of sample surveys and Concept of standard error of an estimate; Estimation under various sampling techniques viz. Simple random sampling,
stratified sampling, cluster sampling, multi-stage sampling; Survey Design of National Sample Surveys (NSS); NSS surveys on morbidity, medical care and other public health statistics; Basic principles of design of
experiments & their application to medical experiments; Analysis of variance â€“ one way and two way classification; Standard design, factorial experiments & analysis of data.
One year full time Post-graduate Diploma
Any graduate in â€˜medicineâ€™ recognized by Medical Council of India or a India or a candidate who has passed graduation with mathematics of Statistics of a recognized University may be admitted to the course subject to
clearing an admission test comprising the mathematics/Statistics curriculum for higher secondary level.

As per Govt. of India norms for Non- medical trainees attending post-graduate diploma courses : Rs. 7500.00 per month.
