Sanitary health inspectors play a crucial role in the protection of public health and environment in various ways. Their demand is increasing with the changes in the public health sector. Civic bodies in a state depend on health and sanitary inspectors for dealing with various public issues which range from safe drinking water, safety of food and general sanitary conditions.
Course Objectives:

Understand the healthcare scenario in India, duties and responsibilities of a Sanitary Health Inspector

Develop skills for anthropometric measurement for record keeping, develop and apply knowledge in Food and Nutrition, understand levels of personal hygiene

Adhere to legislation, protocols and guidelines relevant to one’s role and field of practice

Understand the art of effective communication with various stakeholders like patients, nurses, etc.

Learn how to identify rapidly changing situations and adapt accordingly

Have a basic working knowledge of computers, first aid and triage, disaster preparedness and management

Understand the process of registration, reporting and documentation process for implementation of different acts within the community

Understand the basics of demography and vital statistics, Public Health Acts.

Apply appropriate health and safety measures and standard precautions for infection prevention and control and personal protective equipment relevant to the type and category of waste.

Learn about various Modes of Waste disposal and treatment – Solid, Liquid, Sewage, Night Soil, Biomedical Waste ; Burial Cremation ground and Mass casualty Disposal

Infrastructure and Water Supply, Air and Soil Sanitation, Housing, Occupational Health

Understand hospital borne infections and practices to curb them, all procedures required for infection control, learn all standard precautions and infection control procedures, understand different types of spillages and their management
Duration of course:
- Minimum duration of course – 10 months (minimum 43 weeks)
- Internship & work experience – 2 months

Passed Higher secondary level with Science.

Selected strictly on the basis of merit, as determined by the marks obtained by the applicants in the higher secondary Examination.
